Dear Member,

We’d like to express a sincere thank you to the 400+ members who came out to the Club last night to show support for important plans to enhance the facilities in Martin Savage Park.

Looking around the packed hall last night, an old saying came to mind: “it takes a village to raise a child”. In our case, it takes a village to deliver the facilities that our community wants, needs and deserves.

Last night was a powerful and passionate display of unity by our Club. With your help, we left the Councillors, TDs and Senators in attendance with absolutely no doubt about the importance of progressing Dublin City Council’s plans for an enhanced Martin Savage Park.

At last night’s meeting, the Club presentation provided an overview of the progress to-date including the huge compromise involved in getting to this stage and dispelled misinformation circulating locally regarding the project. Our local representatives saw a Club and a membership that embodies the word community and that is united by a will to secure better sporting and recreational facilities for both current and future generations living in the local area.

As our speakers so eloquently and passionately contended last night, what we’re looking for in Martin Savage Park is nothing out of the ordinary – it is simply a desire to provide our members and our community with the kind of facilities that you’ll find in communities across Dublin. Our community is not second rate. Our children are not second rate. So why should we have to put up with second rate facilities?

As our speakers outlined last night, we recognise there are issues that still need to be addressed to ensure any development of the park does not negatively impact on anyone in our community. As well as providing the training and playing facilities that our members need and deserve, we believe the proposed changes will offer enhancements for everyone in the community. We were pleased to hear our local representatives recognise and praise the ongoing concerted efforts the Club is making to ease traffic issues in the area. Also, as we heard last night, the proposed enhancements will offer an opportunity to improve drainage in the area.

Over the coming weeks, we will continue to engage with Dublin City Council to further progress the proposals for Martin Savage Park. We are extremely grateful for your support and we will continue to need it going forward. We will look to keep you updated regularly on progress of the proposed development in due course. In the meantime, thank you for your continued support!

Kind Regards

Conal Clerkin, Chairperson and Ronan Doohan, Vice-Chairperson
