The Club is saddened to hear of the passing of Denis Carr and our thoughts and prayers are with his family Denis, Maria, Jackie, Brendan and Dermot, grandchildren, great grandchildren, son in law Paul and daughters in law Ann and Suzanne at this very difficult time.

Denis was a life-long and stalwart member of Plunkett's. He is one of the reasons why the Club continues to go from strength to strength having  played a pivotal role in all aspects of the Club as mentor and club administrator including Club Treasurer. Denis was instrumental in developing the clubs plans to develop a clubhouse and dressing rooms . He was a wonderful contributor and participant in all club fundraising and social events down the years and he was also a regular supporter of the Wednesday Night Comhaltas sessions. He was interested in how every team in the club was progressing and regularly attended several games in all four codes over the course of a weekend.  He was an outstanding ambassador for the GAA at both club and county levels and travelled the length and breath of the country supporting Dublin teams.  Denis represented the club at Dublin GAA County Committees, served on Competitions Control Committee and Hearing Committee's, the Hurling Board and was a member of the management team of the Dublin Senior Hurling team in the mid 2000s. He was highly regarded for his wise contributions at County Committee meetings and when Denis spoke, those around him gave him their full attention. He even had a soft spot for Bohemians FC  and was known to travel abroad to support the Irish Soccer team.

A mark of the regard in which he was held in GAA circles is that Denis was  awarded the GAA President’s Award in 2021 for his extraordinary life-long contribution to the GAA in Dublin at club and management level. Denis was also a recipient of Lifetime Service Award to Dublin GAA from the Dublin County Board more recently in 2023.

He was devoted to his club and county, a club legend and we will all miss him dearly.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
